At Sol y Luna, we believe you are one-of-a-kind and your accessories should be too! Inspired by Mexican heritage and culture, we offer a curated selection of handmade tote bags, market bags, and accessories crafted in sunny Oaxaca, Mexico by local artisans.

Gina Gonzalez was born in Mexico. She spent her childhood traveling back and forth to the states before permanently making New York her home. After working professionally for 28 years in the corporate retail world, Gina decided to pursue her dream and open Sol y Luna boutique in the summer of 2017. Gina has a very close relationship with friends and family in Mexico and is extremely proud of her Mexican heritage.

Traveling annually to Oaxaca, Mexico, Gina works with local artisans on her authentic product line. Crafted in striking, unique color palettes and patterns, these recycled Oaxaca tote, market, and beach bags are stunners. Made of recycled plastic, these products are not only beautiful, they are sturdy, durable, and the color will never fade. The Oaxaca bags include: No Worries Tote bags with a worry doll, Beach/Market totes, and the Bonita totes with unique embroidered patterns inspired by Southern Mexican landscapes.

Gina’s products are one-of-a-kind items, “I only bring back one of each.” The pompom accessory on each bag is the finishing touch. The pompoms are handcrafted in heart shapes, tassels, and circles. Swap out your pompom if you like and choose once that fits your style. Gina pairs up the pompoms beautifully so you may already love what you see. Extra pompom accessories are available for purchase if you want to swap it out to match a different outfit.

Sol y Luna is located at 61 Deer Park Avenue in Babylon, New York. It’s a beautiful village area bustling with a mix of locals and visitors. The town has many good eats and the shopping is great. In the shop you will find the walls are lined with the beautiful Oaxaca Mexican handbags. To truly appreciate each bag, taking them down off the shelf is a must. Each bag has a unique flavor and feel. Everyone is sure to find one that matches their personal style.

If you are buying online, you can be sure that the product you receive is 100% authentic and crafted with the utmost care. The bags are smooth to the touch but super sturdy and durable.

Gina’s boutique has clothing accessories as well. The store is filled with shawls, scarves, hats, and more. But back to the Oaxaca bags… you can expect a new batch of bags about twice a year. Gina makes a few annual trips back to Oaxaca and crafts a list of new colors and patterned bags to bring back. Did I mention the prices are reasonable too? Oaxaca bags are sold in other boutiques in popular vacation hot spots for nearly double the cost!
